We work with a range of external partners including higher education institutions (HEIs), further education colleges, workforce and education networks across the local Integrated Care System (ICS) in Lancashire and South Cumbria, wider North West and national networks and other external bodies.
We are also engaged in national level programmes led by Health Education England (HEE).
Our work is also influenced by national and local health education drivers, which are constantly evolving and requires us to be flexible in our approach to deliver this strategy.

Lancaster University
Lancashire Teaching Hospitals provides placements to medical students studying at Lancaster University. Together, we provide high quality education and training to ensure a future workforce that offer excellent care with compassion.
Northumbria University
The Health Academy work closely with Northumbria University to deliver a new and innovative 18 month Registered Nurse degree apprenticeship to existing Assistant Practitioner staff in NHS Trusts across the Lancashire and South Cumbria Integrated Care System (ICS).
The University of Bolton
The University of Bolton, in partnership with The Health Academy, deliver an outstanding Adult Nursing degree course, teaching student nurses to deliver excellent care with compassion to patients over 18.
University of Central Lancashire
Lancashire Teaching Hospitals provides placements to student nurses studying at UCLan. Together, we provide high quality education and training to ensure a future workforce that offer excellent care with compassion.
University of Cumbria
Lancashire Teaching Hospitals provides placements to student nurses studying at the University of Cumbria. Together, we provide high quality education and training to ensure a future workforce that offer excellent care with compassion.
The University of Manchester
UoM and The Health Academy work together in delivering the MBChB Medicine course, through use of our state of the art facilities, and the help of our experienced members of staff.
University of Salford
