Meet the team
Dr Fatimah Soydemir
Associate Dean for SWAPS at Preston
I am a Manchester graduate sadly to say before many of our medical students were born! However I have been a Consultant Obstetrician at Royal Preston Hospital for over 6 happy years. I have a long standing interest in both Medical Education and Pastoral Care for both Undergraduates and Postgraduates. I am also part of the Foundation team and prior to my present appointment as SWAPS Dean have been the Women’s Health Lead for Undergraduates.
One of the pleasant aspect of my present role will be to see many of you continuing onto the Foundation Programme here as new foundation doctors. I hope that you enjoy your three years at Royal Preston Hospital.
Learner Support Manager
I have worked in SWAPS for the past 8 years and I am passionate about supporting our medical students through some quite significantly difficult times whilst on programme and take great pride in the fact that we have made a difference! Having graduated at Edgehill University in Counselling and Psychotherapy I am an advocate in Pastoral Care. I have seen the SWAPS service go from strength to strength over the years and our ‘Open door’ policy and student feedback is very important to me to help ensure our support service continues to grow and is the best that it can be. I am also part of the Postgraduate Team at the Trust to support our new foundation doctors and trainees.
Leaner Support Administrator
I am one of the new Learner Support Administrators starting in summer 2017. Prior to this I have gained knowledge and experience in various roles always within a supporting and caring environment, ‘making a difference’ is important to me. Having been a student myself in the past and experienced the ups and downs that life can throw our way. I hope to bring life experience and understanding to the role. I feel so happy that I have been given this opportunity within Learner Support and with such a fantastic team. Please feel free to take advantage of our ‘Open door policy’ and I look forward to meeting you.
