Lancashire Teaching Hospitals have been awarded the prestigious Skills for Health Quality Mark in recognition of its health care training provision.
The Skills for Health Quality Mark is the only standard for the UK’s health sector which defines and endorses superior delivery of learning and training that healthcare employers need for a highly motivated and effective workforce.
To gain the status an in-depth audit took place of The Health Academy’s apprenticeship provision, including the ILM Level 5 and Level 3 Health Care Assistant qualifications. The audit involved observations of teaching, discussions with tutors, learners and managers and a review of evidence.
The Trust fully met all four of the key areas assessed against including ethics and values, health sector engagement, learning excellence and the effectiveness of quality assurance arrangements.
Karen Swindley, Strategy, Workforce and Education Director at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals, said: “The quality mark provides credibility that The Health Academy’s educational offer fully meets training standards against an external quality assurance audit.
“The recognition provides internal colleagues, customers and local organisations greater confidence that our apprenticeship training has been measured against a national benchmark.
“The award is testament to the hard work and dedication demonstrated by staff on a day-to-day basis.”
Lynn Atkin, Network Services Manager at Skills for Health, added:
“Lancashire Teaching Hospitals has demonstrated excellence in all elements of learning delivery and receives Skills for Health Quality Mark full endorsement.``
