How do I book a room at the education centre?

What time is the Education Centre Open?

The Health Academy Education centres are staffed;

  • Royal Preston Hospital

Monday – Friday 7:30am – 5pm

  • Chorley Hospital

Monday – Friday 8am – 5pm

 

The buildings are accessible to trust staff 24hrs with a valid Trust ID badge.  Bookings can be made out of hours but further charges may apply or if you are employed by the Trust, a responsible lead form can be completed.

  

Are there any car parking facilities?

Royal Preston Hospital Site

Yes, the Education Centre has a car park overseen by ANPR via an external firm called ParkingEye. There is a concessionary charge of £3.50 per day redeemed by a voucher from reception and is bookable before 4pm the previous day.  Please email education.rph@lthtr.nhs.uk if you want to pre-book a parking space whilst using the centre.

 

Chorley District Hospital Site

Unfortunately, we do not have a designated car park for events and conferencing at our Chorley site.  Please email education.cdh@lthtr.nhs.uk regarding parking vouchers and any other questions you might have about parking arrangement at our Chorley site.

 

Where is the nearest Car Parking Payment Machine?

The nearest payment machine at Preston is located within the Maternity Unit which is to the right of Education Centre one.

 

Does the Education Centre provide catering/hospitality or dining facilities?

We have an external company called Mellors at Royal Preston and hospital catering at Chorley which serve food in our dining rooms and offer hospitality/catering for events/meetings/courses. This does need to be ordered directly with them and no later than 48 hours before for food and 24 hours for drinks. You can view a sample menu here

 

Are all the rooms equipped with AV equipment?

Yes, the majority of our rooms have full AV equipment, the ones that are not are stated below.

  • Meeting Room 3, 1:1 Room A & 1:1 Room B

These are our smallest meeting rooms that are good for appraisals, 1:1 meetings and interviews.

  

Is it possible to bring our own laptops/apple mac?

Yes. This is at your own risk as the education centre cannot be responsible for any loss or damage.

 

Do you have extra inputs for Apple Mac/Laptops?

Yes. If you require any adaptors to assist with your session you can sign these in/out at the reception desk.

 

Do you have Wi-fi?

Yes. You can access the ‘Public Wifi’ on settings and follow the instructions given

 

How can we present our presentations?

You can send over your presentations to the education centre via email education.rph@lthtr.nhs.uk for Preston or education.cdh@lthtr.nhs.uk for Chorley. If using a USB we advise as a backup to send it over electronically to us as different types of USB’s may not work.

 

What are the Library opening times?

With trust ID badge access the library is 24 hours but is only staffed;

  • Royal Preston Hospital

Monday, Tuesday, Thursday 09:00 – 19:00

  • Chorley Hospital

Monday – Friday  09:00 – 17:00

 

Do you supply flipchart, paper and pens?

Yes. All our rooms are fully equipped with flipcharts, flipchart paper & pens.

 

Where is the nearest cash machine?

There is a free cash machine located in the maternity unit just a few minutes away from the education centre.
