  • How do I book a room at the education centre?

Book rooms through the online booking system via the links on the Health Academy page


  • How can we present our presentations?

You can send over your presentations to the education centre via email for Preston or for Chorley. If using a USB we advise as a backup is sent over electronically as different types of USB’s may not work.


  • What time is the Education Centre Open?

The Health Academy Education centres are staffed;

Royal Preston Hospital

 Monday – Friday 7:30am – 5pm

Chorley Hospital

Monday – Friday 8am – 5pm

With a Trust ID badge access you may enter the building 24 hours, all rooms are locked at night and may only be used out of hours if booked via reception and a responsible lead form has been signed. 


  • What happens if I would like hold an evening meeting/course?

Evening/weekend events need to be approved by our Manager. If you are an external company there may be a charge for the hire of the room, all costs are located on the website. Due to the reception being manned until 5pm Monday to Friday, if you are a Trust Colleague, you will need to sign a responsible lead form at the reception all the procedures are able to be explained; you only need to this once. If you are an external company you will need reception cover for which there will be a charge, unless a Trust member is attending the meeting/course/event then they have the option to be a responsible lead for the event.


  • What are the Library opening times?

With trust ID badge access the library is 24 hours but is only staffed ;

Mon, Tue, Thurs 09:00 – 19:00

Chorley Hospital

Mon – Fri:  09:00 – 17:00


  • Are there any car parking facilities?

Yes, the Education Centre has a car park overseen by ANPR via an external firm called ParkingEye . There is a concessionary charge of £3.50 per day redeemed by a voucher from reception and is bookable before 4pm the previous day booking conditions apply?


  • Where is the nearest Car Parking Payment Machine?

The nearest machine is the Maternity Unit to the right of Education Centre 1


  • Are there any dining facilities?

Yes, dining room facilities are situated in the Health Academy education centres at Preston and Chorley.


  • Does the Education Centre provide catering/hospitality?

We have an external company called Mellors at Royal Preston and the hospital catering at Chorley which serve food in our dining rooms and offer hospitality/catering for events/meetings/courses. This does need to be ordered directly with them and no later than 48 hours before for food and 24 hours for drinks. Forms are located:


  • Can you eat/drink in the rooms?

Yes, apart from the Lecture Hall, only water is allowed. Other rooms are however this is on the basis that all items of rubbish are cleared away and the rooms are left clean and tidy. Waste bins are situated in the room and additional rubbish bags are available if required.


  • Are all the rooms equipped with AV equipment?

Yes, the majority of our rooms have full AV equipment, the ones that are not are stated below.

Meeting Room 3, 1:1 Room A & 1:1 Room B

These are our smallest meeting rooms that are good for appraisals, 1:1 meetings and interviews.


  • Do you supply flipchart, paper and pens?

Yes. All our rooms are fully equipped with flipcharts, flipchart paper & pens. If you do require any more for your sessions we can issue more in the room if required.


  • Where is the nearest cash machine?

There is a free cash machine located in the maternity unit just a few minutes away from the education centre.


  • Is it possible to bring our laptops/apple mac?

Yes. This is at your own risk as the education centre cannot be responsible for any loss or damage.


  • Do you have extra inputs for Apple Mac/Laptops?

Yes. If you require any adaptors to assist with your session you can sign these in/out at the reception desk.


  • Do you have Wi-fi?

Yes. You can access the ‘Public Wifi’ on settings and follow the instructions given
