We are delighted to announce that Mr Arun Cardozo, Consultant ENT Surgeon, has been honoured with the prestigious Best Consultant Tutor award at the University of Manchester Medical School’s annual Student Led Teaching Awards for 2024–2025.
Mr Cardozo is the Year 4 ENT Clinical Placement Supervisor for the ENT speciality week, and was recognised for his outstanding dedication and excellence in teaching.
Each year, the MBChB Student Programme Representatives organise the Student Led Teaching Awards, inviting medical students from the University of Manchester to nominate staff members who have demonstrated exceptional teaching skills or provided outstanding support. This year, 47 nominations were submitted from placement hospitals across the Northwest region.
These were carefully reviewed by a panel of student representatives, with Mr Cardozo’s dedication and impact earning him the award for Best Consultant Tutor.
Professor Madhavi Paladugu, Hospital Dean at LTHTr, congratulated Mr Cardozo and his team on this well-deserved recognition, emphasising that it reflects both his steadfast commitment to education and the ENT team’s dedication to integrating medical students within the department.
She highlighted that he “consistently goes above and beyond to ensure students are fully engaged in clinics, theatres and wards, generously offering his own time for additional teaching and mentorship. His compassionate nature and genuine passion for nurturing the next generation of medical professionals is truly inspiring.”
Mr Cardozo added, “I feel honoured to receive this award. It is reassuring to know that our students appreciate our teaching efforts.”
The award will be formally presented to Mr Cardozo at an upcoming ceremony at the University of Manchester. Please join us in congratulating him on this well-deserved achievement and in thanking him and the ENT department for their exceptional contribution to medical education.
