Level 2 Healthcare Apprentices (HApps) employed at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (LTH) have demonstrated their kindness and community spirit by donating to Chorley & District Mencap Society, a local charity that supports people living with learning difficulties and disabilities.
LTH are also a registered apprenticeship training provider and during a taught session for their apprenticeship, apprentices discussed ways they could come together to support the local community. The discussion inspired apprentices to come together to collect and donate a range of food items to support the charity’s important life skills sessions.
Chorley & District Mencap Society offers fantastic services, focusing on helping their service users become more independent and confident. One of their key activities is a weekly cooking session, designed to teach essential skills that help people live more independently. Thanks to the generosity of our apprentices, the society will have additional resources to support these sessions in the coming weeks.
This donation shows just how much our apprentices care about their local community and supporting deserving causes. Their efforts go beyond just the donation itself as they took the time to learn about the impact of Chorley & District Mencap Society’s work and responded with genuine kindness.
One apprentice, Lacie Porter, shared her thoughts: “When we learned about the incredible work that Mencap does to support local people and that they rely solely on charitable donations, we knew we wanted to come together as a group to show our support and help them continue their work.”
We are incredibly proud of our apprentices for their generosity and community spirit. Their actions are a brilliant reminder of how small gestures can make a big difference. We can’t wait to see even more of their positive contributions to the local community in the future.
