Lancashire Teaching Hospitals named as one of Lancashire’s BEST education centres!

We are proud to announce that Lancashire Teaching Hospitals have been named as one of the county’s TOP education centres, in a recent article by Lancashire Post.

The article goes on to name the twenty one colleges and education establishments that have been awarded a ‘good’ or ‘outstanding’ rating by Ofsted, in their recent inspections.

The Trust received their ‘good with outstanding rating’ in August 2022, making us one of only thirteen NHS Providers in the entire country to share these results.

Following their observations, Ofsted had this to say:

“Apprentices are highly motivated and enthusiastic about their programmes. They demonstrate excellent attitudes to their learning. Apprentices are committed to their training to improve their knowledge, skills and behaviours for their patients and for their future roles within the healthcare sector.”

“Apprentices become more confident in their job role as they develop their knowledge and skills in patient care. Practising skills in a simulated learning environment helps them gain confidence before applying practices in a clinical environment. Apprentices build resilience in managing the demands of their training programme and working in a busy hospital.”

In addition to this, the Trust also maintain a 100% programme pass rate, for a staggering four years, having supported over 575 Apprenticeships.

LTHTr currently deliver two apprenticeships: The Senior Healthcare Support Worker apprenticeship and the Learning Mentor apprenticeship.

The Level 3 Senior Healthcare Support Worker is a 13 month programme which is used to support Healthcare Support Workers working in adult nursing, theatre and therapy support roles to develop the knowledge and skills required to work within a band 3 role and in addition gain a level 3 healthcare qualification.

The Learning Mentor apprenticeship achieved a QAR of a staggering 87%, an increase of 5% compared to the previous year and 38% higher than the national average. The Level 4 Learning and Skills Mentor is a 12 month course which is used to support employees who mentor new recruits, junior colleagues and students to ensure that the workforce is adequately and appropriately supported to continuously develop and progress.

In addition to this, LTHTr have recently also been named as the highest performing NHS Apprenticeship Provider in the North West. Read all about this in our recent article.
