Success for the Risk Management & Blended Learning Teams!

The Risk Management teams’ hard work and effort in improving the reminder process and accessibility of mandatory training has recently been rewarded as they hit their threshold target of 80% for the very first time.

The triumph is a result of a new booking-in system which was introduced 18 months ago whereby all staff who are approaching their renewal date are emailed a reminder along with their line managers. The automatically-generated email includes information on how to book on courses or how to access the training via e-learning.  Since implementing this, the Risk Management Training Team have seen a steady increase in the uptake leading to the successful achievement of the target. The same email reminder system has also been used for staff appraisals which have also seen an improvement in compliance rates.

E-Learning has helped meet the mandatory training target for the first time. Completion of the eLearning modules has also played a significant role in helping to reach the threshold. The Blended Learning team have made a number of changes to the Trust e-learning site and the mandatory training learning modules themselves in order to streamline the learning content and provide a fresh look and feel. Having an online course allows staff greater flexibility as to when, and how quickly, they complete the learning.  In fact, in the last six months, 57% of staff chose to complete the module online as opposed to attend a taught session.

Head of Risk Management Training, Kenny Lyon commented, “It’s a real accomplishment for us to finally reach the 80% target. We’ve already shown our commitment to maintaining the result with a restructure of the team and the introduction of a new Training Compliance Officer which will increase the intensity of chasing those who haven’t yet attended. “

“The uptake of the eLearning module is extremely positive too,” added Kenny.  “It demonstrates that by providing flexible and convenient alternative learning solutions, we can positively impact upon the uptake of the required training.”
