  1. We have books and online resources covering quality and safety improvement, and  patient safety , quality control, safeguarding adults and children, hygiene standards
  2. You can choose choose to add Governance, patient safety, and quality to your alert: topics covered will include patient safety, quality improvement, and infection control.
  3. You can benchmark practice in other organisations by ordering a literature search.
  1. We can advise you how to access Trust policies and procedures on sickness, flexible work, and other issues relating to workforce planning.
  2. We have two useful guides that take you through how to find a policy and how to update a policy.
  3. You and add Workforce planning and resource management to your weekly newsletter. Topics include workforce planning (recruitment and retention), equality and diversity, well-being, and occupational health.
  4. The library has a wealth of books on well-being that contribute to staff retention.
  5. We can benchmark good practice by carrying out a literature search for you.
  1. We have evidence palliative care resources DynaMed Palliative Care and BMJ Best Practice Palliative Care.
  2. We have a range of material relating to end-of-life care: books and journals such as International Journal of Palliative Care and BMJ Palliative and Supportive Care.
  3. We can set up you with Patient experience and reducing health inequalities weekly alert: topics include the care need and support, patient carer communication, patient information, patient satisfaction and complaints, and patient and public involvement.
  4. We have a health literacy web page that include information on how to book on tailored training.
  1. You can add Performance and operational oversight to your weekly email alert. Topics covered include design of care pathways and health care finance.
  2. We have a range of books relating to continuous improvement.
  1. New members of staff can receive a library induction designed to give them an overview of the evidence-based resources available to them online. We can show you and your colleagues quick and easy ways to access research.
  2. We have clinical point of care online tools designed to provide up to date evidence-based medicine. DynaMed is a clinical point of care tool  that provides the latest evidence to answer your clinical questions. BMJ Best Practice provide up to date articles on hundreds of topics specifically designed to answer clinical questions.  We can deliver training sessions on how to access and use these tools.
  3. You can add Digital and technology to your weekly email newsletter: topics include information governance, information and communication technology, and technology enhanced learning.
  1. Do your staff need a place to study? The libraries at Chorley and Preston are accessible 24/7 and offer a comfortable place to study with plenty of IT facilities.
  2. We have staff that offer advice. We can offer a friendly induction and tour of our facilities. When you join the library, you are not just getting access to the books in the libraries at Preston and Chorley, but libraries across the Northwest.
  3. You can add Education, Training, and Development to your weekly email alert. It covers topics such as career progression, managing revalidation, mentoring and supervision, simulation, standards and regulation, and technology enhanced learning.
  1. We can help you run your journal clubs. We can run sessions on how to source journal articles in the quickest and easiest way.
  2. We can offer you and your staff training on how to carry out a literature search. There are also several online resources that can help with literature searching. We have statistical software called Stats Direct on all our library’s PCs.
  3. We have a number of books on research.
  4. Do you wish to publish a case report? Did you know that the Trust subscribes to BMJ Case Reports that entitles you to submit case reports free of charge.
  5. The Knowledge and Library Service runs LTHTR’s publication database. Here you can search all research published by staff and students working at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals.
  6. You can add Research and Development to your weekly email alert to provide you with up-to-date information around the topic of conducting research. Topics include participant recruitment, qualitative research, publishing in peer review journals, research governance and ethics, evaluating evidence, finding the best evidence, and implementing evidence into practice.
  1. DynaMed and BMJ Best Practice are clinical support tools that can help you find the latest evidence-based Medicine to support clinical effectiveness. This can include topics covering nutritional support.
  2. You can add Collaborative working and clinical effectiveness to your weekly email alert covering multidisciplinary working.
  3. We can carry out a literature search for you to support clinical effectiveness.
  1. As part of the Training Need Analysis (TNA) for your staff we run  a number training courses . In addition to a general induction to the library we can offer training on literature searchingcritical appraisal, clinical point of care tools (DynaMed and BMJ Best Practice), and health literacy.
  2. We have books both in print and electronic format to support your staff’s individual training needs.
  3. You can add Service improvement and transformation to your weekly email alert that covers quality improvement (audits, root-cause analysis, waiting times, and process mapping).
